Search Inside Yourself (SIY) is a mindfulness-based emotional intelligence training program created at Google. SIY teaches skills to become more emotionally aware and mentally clear at work, in relationships, or in any aspect of life. This course integrates the neuroscience of emotional intelligence theory with contemplative practices such as mindfulness meditation in order to work directly with the emotional brain and develop the five domains of emotional intelligence (Self-Awareness, Self-Regulation, Motivation, Empathy, and Social Skills). The course is intended for those wanting more depth, meaning, and effectiveness in their lives; or just wanting more happiness.
SIY was developed in collaboration with Daniel Goleman, PhD; contemplative teachers; researchers from Stanford University; and Google education specialists. Each session will combine presentation, mindfulness practice, and small groups. Students will be asked on a volunteer basis to complete confidential assessments of the class.
Philippe Goldin, PhD, is a clinical research scientist in the Department of Psychology at Stanford University. His research focuses on brain imaging cognitive-affective mechanisms related to anxiety disorders, and the effects of mindfulness meditation and cognitive-behavioral therapy on brain-behavior correlates of emotional reactivity and regulation.
